The Zurmi Emirate Council in Zamfara state has handed over three suspected Boko Haram suspects to the Nigerian Army.
The suspects are currently in detention as was confirmed on Thursday, January 26, 2017 by Col Abdullahi Adamu, the commanding officer, 223 Light Tank Batallion of Tactical Operation Unit, Gusau, the state capital.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the suspects were apprehended by the local vigilante in the area.
While displayed the arms recovered from the suspects, Adamu reportedly said the suspects had been moved to the 1 division of the Nigerian Army Kaduna for interrogation.
He listed some of the recovered arms to include AK 47 riffles, over 600 ammunitions, illicit substances, charms and others.
“Based on our preliminary investigation, we discovered that the suspects may be connected to the fleeing Boko Haram members who were recently disbanded by the military from Sambisa forest of Borno state,” he said.
